You may have already seen the news reports and, yes, it is now official. Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser has appointed THC’s Executive Director Polly Donaldson to be the next Director of the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). Polly will be leaving THC at the end of the year to assume her new position at the beginning of the Bowser Administration on January 2, 2015. We are so proud of Polly and wish her the very best as she leads the District’s efforts to build more affordable housing and serve the needs of all of our residents, including our most vulnerable families

As a key partner, stakeholder, funder or donor, the THC Board of Directors wants to assure you that our top priority is the stability and continuity of our programs and services to the families we serve. THC has a strong senior management team supported by a very capable and engaged board of directors that will ensure that continuity. Following THC’s Executive Succession Policy, the Executive Committee has an executive transition plan beginning immediately, including the following:

Executive Transition Committee Appointed: A 5-person Transition Committee, comprised of board officers, has been appointed to guide the transition process. The Transition Committee has contacted prospective interim executive directors and is working toward appointment

Interim Executive Director: An interim Executive Director is expected to start in early January, and will assume responsibility for working with the senior management team in all areas of THC’s operation.

Search Process: The Transition Committee is expected to convene a Search Committee in January to begin discussion of a search process over the first half of 2015 to recruit a successor to Polly as Executive Director.
