Breaking the Cycle
We started the Family Success Program in 2017 to provide more structure and program design to our existing education and training services and to deliver more effective support to our families. It is designed to enable homeless and at-risk families to end the cycle of generational poverty and to prevent homelessness through self-sufficiency. FSP offers education, employment, family support, and personal development opportunities to families in our program.
The Four Pillars
FSP is built on four key service pillars: Education & Training, Employment & Finance, Family Support, and Personal Development. Participants meet academic credit and /or training requirements for GEDs and higher education, acquire and maintain employment, and participate in programming focused on improving financial management skills, family support skills, mental health and personal development. Participants develop Family Success Action Plans that outline immediate and long-term goals, and concrete steps participants will take to achieve those goals. The FSP team provides individual and family education counseling that includes college application assistance, scholarship application assistance, tutoring and referrals to volunteer tutors, and personality and career assessments. We connect our clients to mainstream resources by partnering with several organizations throughout the District for education and vocational training program referrals.
