Housing Up (formerly Transitional Housing Corporation) was founded in 1990 as a faith-based homeless services organization. 26 years later, Housing Up is recognized as a lead housing and services provider to homeless families in the District of Columbia, serving over 600 families on their journey to housing stability and economic viability. Our array of housing options enables us to meet families where they are and offer housing that best meets their needs through rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing or affordable rental housing.
In 2016, we rebranded as Housing Up, a name that reflects the full scope of our programs. The name Housing Up aligns with our move away from transitional housing programs and toward permanent affordable housing solutions. The rebrand highlights our status as one of the District’s most innovative and successful nonprofits serving families experiencing homelessness.
