Happy Women’s History Month!
As Women’s History Month concludes, we are celebrating the amazing families that make up Housing Up’s community, the vast majority of whom are led by Black single mothers.
Across our social channels, we highlighted influential people in women’s history, including Sonia Sotomayor, Charlotte Dupuy, and Flora Molton. With the help of Center for American Progress’ report, we reflected on how age & race disparities continue to widen the wage gap for women in 2023. We also reflected on our second conversation about COVID-19 and its impact on women of color, which we held one year ago but is still relevant today.

Blog: Homelessness in America as a Single Mother
To honor Women’s History Month, our Communications & Philanthropy intern, Abigail Alvarez, highlights homelessness’ most predominant yet overlooked population: single mothers.
At Housing Up, an overwhelming amount of the families we serve are headed by single mothers—specifically Black single mothers. Experiencing homelessness at the intersections of gender, racial, and marital status disparities makes it even harder for these women to access support.
