THC Selected to Preserve Affordable Housing in the District
On January 29, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced 12 projects that will provide more than 800 units of affordable housing in DC. We are proud to announce that two THC Affordable Housing, Inc. projects were selected by the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The projects, Glenn Arms and Hedin House, will preserve 103 units of affordable housing in Ward 1 and Ward 5.
DHCD, along with other District agencies, reviewed 29 applications before selecting the 12 projects to receive funding. Combined, the projects represent more than $82 million in public funding from the Housing Production Trust Fund, a major focus of Mayor Bowser’s administration. Once complete, the new projects are projected to house 1,760 District residents, primarily those most vulnerable to housing instability: the elderly, those making below 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) and those currently experiencing homelessness.
We are excited to launch the Hedin House and Glenn Arms projects and to continue providing affordable housing to District residents. For more about the DHCD awardees and new affordable housing developments, visit dhcd.dc.gov.
