On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, Housing Up will be participating in #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving. Founded in 2012 as a way to encourage philanthropic giving during the holiday season, #GivingTuesday has inspired giving globally, resulting in more donations, volunteer hours, and activities to affect change in communities around the world.

#GivingTuesday harnesses the power of social media and the spirit of the giving season, creating a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy worldwide. Celebrated annually on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, #GivingTuesday follows widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday with a beginning to the charitable season, when many people focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving through contributions and acts of service.

This #GivingTuesday, we encourage you to think about your fellow Washingtonians who are less fortunate, those who don’t have as much to be thankful for at Thanksgiving and those who won’t be receiving any gifts during the holidays. Your time, your talents and your generous donations will greatly impact the 600 families we serve, who depend on support from you.
