On Tuesday, June 30, Housing Up, in partnership with Somerset Development Company, was awarded funding to provide 125 units of affordable housing, including permanent supportive housing units, at Faircliff Plaza East in Ward 1.

Mayor Bowser announced Housing Up’s award and the selection of nine other projects that will produce and preserve 940 affordable homes and more than 300 market rate homes, showing her continued focus on building a more equitable DC. The Housing Production Trust Fund (HPTF) will primarily fund these projects through a $66 million investment.

According to Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) Director Polly Donaldson, DHCD’s values and goals have been unchanged as COVID-19 continues to hurt the District, a virus that has shown to disproportionately affect homeless residents and Black residents in our community.

“With our continued historic investments in the Housing Production Trust Fund, these selected projects get us further towards our equitable distribution goals, ensuring residents can live anywhere in the city,” Polly said.

Since 2015, Housing Up has developed 495 affordable housing units in addition to the 292 units already developed or in its pipeline at that time. These additional projects include Walter Reed Senior Housing, Urban Village Phase 1, Vine Street, Walter Reed Assisted Living, and now Faircliff Plaza East.
