THC named Finalist for the 2014 Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management
THC was recently notified that it is one of three finalists for The Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management. We are truly honored to be selected as a finalist for this prestigious award!
The selection process is highly competitive with organizational management practices being judged by a panel of 25 executives with a wide range of professional experience. The panel looks for management excellence and best practice in such areas as finance, communications, governance, resource development, human resources, and planning.
Beyond the grant incentive for the award, we are thrilled to take part in this competition for the first time this year! The Washington Post Award is known not only for identifying exceptional Nonprofits in the greater DC community , but also for providing an insightful learning experience for all award applicants. Over the past 24 years THC has grown from serving 13 families to 500 families. Our staff size has also grown significantly (from two to 65 employees) to accommodate the growing need for family housing and support services. Feedback from this process will be invaluable in THC’s continued effort to build a better workplace for its employees and better lives for the families it serves. Thank you to the selection committee for choosing us as a finalist! Congratulations to The Reading Connection and Young Playwright’s Theater for also being selected as award finalists. Stay tuned for updates on May 22nd at the Best Practices Celebration!
