Making a House a Home
On Saturday, April 19th a group of 7 volunteers from St. Francis Episcopal Church of Great Falls joined THC staff to furnish an apartment for a new family moving into transitional housing at Partner Arms 2 (PA2). This congregation came together; gathering donations for household furnishings from large items like beds and dressers, down to the little details like paintings and toys for the kids moving in. St Francis Great Falls has been part of the Adopt-An-Apartment program for years, and has furnished over 8 apartments!
The 3 hours spent moving furniture, organizing the kitchen and bathroom, building beds and decorating the apartment flew by as volunteers cheerfully prepared the space. Adopt-An-Apartment Coordinator, Samson Girma said, “It was a great day of service. St Francis put much effort into going beyond just gathering donations. Janet and St. Francis parishioners thoughtfully assembled a unit that will surely create a warm, welcoming space for the family.”
This week, a mother and father along with their two daughters (age 1 and 5) will move out of homelessness and into this apartment. Thank you Janet Gralley for organizing the donation drive and to the volunteers of St. Francis Great Falls for making their house a home!
