Tell us about yourself.

My name is Austin Bloom. I am a proud Cleveland, Ohio transplant living in the District. I am quick to defend everything about Cleveland, and even quicker to rave about everything DC has to offer. I am about to graduate from Marymount University in the spring with a Degree in Economics. I hope to go on to get my Masters in Urban Studies and ultimately work in Local Government crafting and bettering public policy.

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about all aspects of economic development, and public policy, traveling to new places, and extremely strong coffee. I believe economics can help us understand the world around us, traveling can make us into better and more empathetic people and coffee helps me stay awake for all of it!

What brings you to THC?

I am so excited to work with THC because I believe it is a system that works. There seems to be short term solutions to homelessness every way you turn, but real solutions are few and far between. The sheer amount of families that come through this system, and end up obtaining permanent housing inspires me and gives me hope that there are solutions to this seemingly impossible problem. I hope to bring what I learn in my time here to all I do in future endeavors!
