Housing Up Awarded Funding For Three Affordable Housing Projects

Last month, Mayor Bowser announced a major investment in affordable housing. Eleven projects in the District will receive $138 million to produce or preserve 1,180 units of affordable housing. Housing Up will receive funding for three projects:

– Abrams Hall Assisted Living (54 permanent supportive housing (PSH) units in Ward 4)
– 218 Vine Street NW (121 units, including 24 PSH units in Ward 4)
– Urban Village (115 units of affordable housing, including 14 PSH units, in Ward 1)

We are excited to work with our co-developers – Urban Atlantic/Hines, Jair Lynch and Somerset Development Company – to serve District residents. For more information on these upcoming projects, click here.

Welcoming Families to Partner Arms II

In late March, we welcomed twelve families to the newly renovated Partner Arms II (PA2) on Georgia Avenue, NW. Until the recent renovation, PA2 operated as transitional housing for formerly homeless families. Now, the building is home to 12 families in our permanent supportive housing (PSH) program.

Families moved into units furnished by our Adopt An Apartment (AAA) partners: Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Fannie Mae, Christ Lutheran Church and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Thank you to our AAA partners, development partners, funders and everyone who supported this renovation project.

Building a Community Garden at Weinberg Commons

Last Saturday, a group of volunteers from Hope Multiplied spent a sunny morning starting a community garden at Weinberg Commons. Thanks to these energetic volunteers, families at Weinberg will soon have access to fresh fruits, herbs and vegetables from their own backyard.

April kicks off National Volunteer Month and Saturday’s event was one of many great examples of the importance of volunteers to our programs and mission. Check out more information from the gardening event here.
