Celebrating Black History Month
Happy Black History Month! This February, we’ve loved recognizing & uplifting the Black community’s major – and often overlooked – contributions to civil rights (including housing justice), politics, the arts & beyond.
Housing Up serves predominately Black families, mostly led by single Black mothers. We also know that nearly 90% of homeless families in D.C. are Black. Now more than ever, it’s important for everyone to acknowledge the ways systemic racism bleeds into our society.
In honor of Black History Month, we encourage our community to continue engaging with anti-racism work (see recommendations in the sidebar each month!) & supporting local Black-owned businesses.

Join Housing Up’s Associate Board
The associate board supports Housing Up’s mission and goals while building professional skills and growing as community leaders. Associate board members are young professionals that contribute their talents and resources to cultivate a network of Housing Up supporters, volunteers and ambassadors.

Leadership Spotlight: Roslyn Roberts
For this week’s Leadership Spotlight, we’re highlighting our Director of Rapid Re-Housing, Roslyn Roberts! She joined Housing Up to advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves, and to help folks stand on their own. Read more about her work here.
