National Volunteer Month
Throughout April we celebrated National Volunteer Month by recognizing the vital work our amazing volunteers – our Front Porch Crew – do for the Housing Up community. On our blog, we interviewed associate board member, Katie Williams, about her experience volunteering at Housing Up. When asked what she would say to someone considering joining the associate board, she responded, “Being a member of the associate board allows you to directly support families experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness in DC through in-person volunteer events, youth tutoring, and enrichment sessions and fundraisers”. Read Katie’s full spotlight here. Volunteers like Katie are key to sustaining Housing Up’s programs and helping our families thrive. If you are interested in making a difference in your DC community, volunteer with us. Community Partnership Spotlight

In honor of National Public Health Week from April 7th to April 13th, we highlighted our incredible community partnership with George Washington University’s Urban Health Program (UHP). UHP fellows have worked with families at Housing Up for more than two years and are currently running two projects: Adult Health Literacy and Youth and Family Enrichment. We spoke with program manager Bridget Kelly and UHP fellows Leilani Drake and Karen Lopez about their partnership with Housing Up. Bridget, Leilani, and Karen discussed the role housing plays in public health, their favorite moments with Housing Up’s families and much more. Read the blog post here!
Additionally, this month UHP showed their appreciation for their partnership with Housing Up by honoring our Director of Resident Services, Nkem Offor, as the Community Partner of the Year. We are so grateful for our wonderful partnership with UHP and look forward to many more years of working together to better serve our families.
New Donor Recognition Program

Housing Up is excited to announce our new donor recognition program to properly highlight our appreciation for your generous giving! Our program allows you to choose the giving and engagement level that best suits your interests, needs, and capacity to give. Each level has its own unique benefits and ways to become more involved in our mission. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue our vital work supporting the more than 800 families and households we serve. Learn more about our new donor recognition program or join us at a new giving level, here.
