I am a DMV native, born and raised in Arlington County, and I have recently joined the Associate Board. I have worn many hats in my career, all focused on affordable housing. In my current role as the Affordable Housing Program Manager for Fairfax County’s Housing Department, I find myself working on affordable housing policy, development, and outreach efforts. A value I carry forward is housing for all and I am grateful to be involved in an effort that is moving that goal forward.

What inspired you to join Housing Up’s Associate Board?

Housing Up’s commitment to end homelessness, increase housing stability, and resident success aligns closely with my commitment to advancing equitable, data-informed housing policies across sectors with lasting community impact. I am excited to be in a group of like-minded thinkers that come from a range of disciplines, all working together towards the same goal.

 

What do you wish more people knew about affordable housing and homelessness?

Affordable housing and homelessness are two sides of the same coin. They exist within the same housing ecosystem, and we can’t meaningfully solve one without addressing the other. At times, we get caught up focusing on one end of the problem and overlook the impact that could come from addressing the needs of those who are most vulnerable and in immediate crisis.
