Our 2025 Annual Report is Live

Family at Fort View Apartments
Behind every success story are the amazing volunteers, staff, and community partners who help support the families we serve. Despite significant funding cuts to critical services and programs in 2025, your generosity, advocacy, and belief in Housing Up’s mission helped more than 900 families maintain stable housing. Thanks to your support, families had access to safe homes, children had consistent places to learn and grow, and residents received the tools they needed for long-term stability. In 2026, your support will continue to provide families with the essential services and support they need to thrive despite federal and local funding cuts. Make sure to check out our 2025 Annual Report and see what we achieved as a community.
Here is a recap of our favorite highlights:
- 900 families served across all programs
- 100% of families maintained housing stability in 2025
- 86% of families participated in resident services programming
- 1,680 meals were served and donated to families
- 360 backpacks full of supplies were provided to children in our affordable housing communities
- 562 children received gifts this holiday season
Happy Black History Month!

For over a century, DC has been the center of Black activism, arts, academia, and business. Black culture is the heartbeat of DC; from the Civil Rights Movement to Go-Go, there is no denying that Black history is DC’s history. At Housing Up, the majority of the more than 500 families we serve are Black. This Black History Month, we focused locally and spotlighted how Black voices and experiences have shaped DC throughout history into the present day.
On Instagram, we launched our Black History in DC series and explored the invaluable contributions the Black community has made and continues to make to activism, arts, academia, and business in DC. Over on our blog, we examined the history of racial housing covenants in DC and how they shape neighborhoods and housing inequity today. Click here to read our full blog post, “A City Shaped by Exclusion: Racial Housing Covenants in DC”. As February comes to a close, we encourage you to celebrate Black history year-round and honor the contributions of the Black community through meaningful, tangible action.

Housing Up is thrilled to expand our volunteer opportunities in 2026! Volunteers – what we call our Front Porch Crew – are at the heart of our mission. They power our programs, strengthen our services, and help families build brighter, more stable futures. Opportunities Include:
- Youth and adult tutoring
- GED/job training support
- Community gardening
- Youth enrichment activities (like our annual summer camp)
Ready to make an impact? Learn more about volunteering at housingup.org/volunteer and reach out to Housing Up’s Communications and Engagement Assistant, Julia Bliss, at jbliss@housingup.org to sign up for volunteer training!
