Save the Date: Living in the City 2020

Did you know Living in the City 2020 is less than three months away? We’re so excited to (virtually) see you and yours on October 5 to celebrate our families, our supporters and our 30 years of service. Visit our website for information about sponsorship opportunities and to register.

We know individuals & businesses alike are hurting, and we don’t take our outreach to hopeful event sponsors lightly. As you know, COVID-19 has disproportionately affected those experiencing homeless and Black residents, of which make up over 90% of the population we serve.

As our families transition into life beyond 2020, any role you play in supporting Living in the City will be vital in allowing our community to regain stability and work toward full independence.

Staff Spotlight

For this month’s #StaffSpotlight, we’re highlighting our new Rapid Re-Housing case manager, Katherinne Pineda-Esperado! When asked what kind of impact she’s hoping to have on the families we serve, this is what she had to say:

“Having a place that I can call home is priceless, and many families Housing Up serves may have never had a place to call home. Every human being should have the opportunity and the tools to experience having a house, a job and a family, but most importantly, to learn how to maintain all of that. I want to be able to help others have another chance and a better life.”

Target Circle Giving Program Results

Thanks to you, Housing Up received over $2,500 from Target Circle to help us further our mission of building thriving communities in Washington, DC. This donation came from a larger pool of funds donated from Target to nonprofits tied to our local community. With these funds, we’ll be able to help ensure the children we serve are ready for virtual education this upcoming school year.
