 1. Get inspired by Housing Up families

Listen to Housing Up client and US veteran, Mr. Diggs, who overcame adversity and gained access to safe and secure housing. His story showcases the incredible impact of our housing services team and the work they do to connect people to safe, affordable housing.  See how housing and comprehensive support services are empowering Mr. Diggs to achieve his dreams. Join us on October 3rd to hear Mr. Diggs’ story.  

2. Take a tour through the housing landscape of DC 

Delve into the complexities of the DC housing landscape to better understand the intersections of housing, youth, community engagement, and mental health. Discover why Housing Up is instrumental in the District’s homelessness plan and see the diverse ways we support our clients. Make sure you also come test your knowledge of the current state of affordable housing conditions in DC through interactive trivia games. Do you know what it’s really like living in the city? 

3. Share how you plan to help your community

A community is uplifting. A community is unified. A community is you. We’ll show you how our staff builds community among the young kids at one of our affordable housing buildings. But, we also want to hear from you. How will you help your community? Each person does their part, contributing a piece of themselves to build a strong support system. Uplift and unify those around you. Whether you plan to get involved in volunteer projects or donate to local organizations, tell us how you take an active role in engaging with your community. 

4. Fight against family homelessness in DC

According to the 2023 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count, more people are experiencing homelessness this year than in 2022— an increase that hasn’t happened since 2016. 389 families and 3,750 individuals were experiencing homelessness in DC in January 2023. At Housing Up, we envision a world in which all families have access to affordable housing and comprehensive support services. All proceeds from Living in the City sponsorships, tickets and our auction enable us to achieve this mission and directly benefit hundreds of vulnerable families we serve.  

5. Make your mark on the city 

Have a direct impact on the families we serve by contributing to our auction! You’ll have the chance to provide tangible support for our residents. Your contributions not only cover household bills and essential items, but also support resident services activities and help our students reach their educational goals.
