Tell us about yourself.
I am a rising junior at the University of Maryland, College Park pursuing a degree in Communication on the Public Relations track. I was born and raised in the suburbs of DC and have always felt drawn to the city’s liveliness and culture. While working with organizations in the area, I decided that I want to use my communications skills to get involved in nonprofit work and benefit the world around me.
I have always been passionate about advocacy and finding solutions to the social issues that plague our country.
What brought you to THC? Describe your internship and how it fits into your overall plan.
Finding the perfect Communications internship was important to me this summer as I enter my junior year of college. I was drawn to this organization because of the amazing work that it does and working here will help me validate what I want to do as a career.
What excites you about the THC internship?
I am excited to learn more about how a nonprofit operates on a day-to-day basis and to interact with the people that have been doing the kind of work that I have dreamed about doing for so long.
What are you doing after your internship ends?
After my internship ends, I will be returning to school to continue my studies. I will also be working with a student-run public relations firm, where I will bring all of the knowledge I
have learned here.
What is your favorite place in DC?
I love the Shaw neighborhood; I have friends that attend Howard U and have fond memories there.
