January 18 – Housing Up, in partnership with Somerset Development Company and Jonathan Rose Companies, broke ground on The Faircliff, a 125-unit affordable housing project at 2601 14th Street NW in Ward 1. This project, along with a 197-unit market rate development next door, will replace the former 80-unit Faircliff Plaza East apartment complex, quadrupling the total number of housing units on site.

The Faircliff includes 80 affordable replacement units for former Faircliff Plaza East residents as well as 45 new affordable units available to households with income at or below 50% of Area Median Income.

Designed by Eric Colbert & Associates, The Faircliff will be constructed to Passive House standards and feature a range of green design features, including a green roof, electric vehicle charging for 19 parking spaces, and carbon-injected concrete. Weinberg Commons, another one of our affordable housing developments, was Housing Up’s first PHIUS project.

Since 2015, Housing Up has developed or redeveloped affordable housing across the city. We currently own/operate 426 affordable housing units in the District, and we have an additional 425 units in our development pipeline. Some additional projects include Walter Reed Senior Housing, Urban Village Phase 1, Vine Street, Walter Reed Assisted Living, and The Faircliff.
