The 2023 Back to School Drive is Here!
As the summer season starts, the 2023-2024 school year will be here before we know it! With August just around the corner, Housing Up is launching its annual Back to School Drive. Not only does this initiative provide each of our 1,170 children with a backpack full of school supplies, but also a foundation for a successful school year.
Our Back to School Drive is funded by generous contributions from members of our community. These monetary donations bring this initiative to life, ensuring that our families have access to vital educational resources. The backpacks and school supplies that we provide alleviate financial burden and lessen parents’ stress about affording school supplies.
Thanks to the support of our incredible partners, Housing Up was able to assemble and distribute over 800 backpacks last year. Across our Permanent Supportive Housing and Rapid Re-Housing programs, every school-age child who needed a backpack received a backpack filled with school supplies like notebooks, pencils, and markers. Our Back to School Drive had a life-changing impact, reaching nearly 750 households across DC.
With your help, we hope to expand our goal and distribute over 400 backpacks for our 2023 Back to School Drive, meeting the needs of our families! Your involvement in this year’s Drive will make a valuable difference in the lives of vulnerable families in Washington, DC.
